"Diagonals" Add Impact

The all-important POV (point of view)

Changing your POV can make a big difference in how your picture looks. Position yourself to create a diagonal composition. Imagine if this picture had been taken with the photographer standing off to the right... the geese would have been moving left to right across the frame instead of diagonally up the frame.

Diagonal Lines lend excitement and impact to your pictures. You can easily add some pizazz by moving your feet. Change your POV (point of view) to create a diagonal composition.

Which composition do you prefer? Use your hand to cover each one in turn to see them one at a time.

"Dutch angles" have been used for ages in video production to portray uneasiness or tension. This technique also works well with your mobile camera too.. tilt your camera to add excitement!

Just for fun Google "Dutch angle photography"

I tilted my iPhone to add a little interest to this picture. Tilt the camera enough so the picture does not look like an accident. By the way, always keep in mind that (digital) film is cheap!

Take more than one variation when you are shooting.

And If you want to create a feeling of peace and tranquility in your picture, make a horizontal composition rather than a diagonal one.

See you again soon with more mobile tips and techniques.
